In the end, what is the intelligent networked car, what will it develop in the future? From a personal point of view, I think it can be summarized as three trends:

Energy interconnection, keyword energy revolution

 

First, talk about autonomous driving.

 

For more than 100 years, the first car invented by Benz. the only seat left for the driver. SAE divides the automatic driving into five stages, and the current car is between L2 and L3. These five stages can be interpreted explicitly as:

 

  • L0 – You come, I (AI) don't participate.
  • L1&L2 – I can step on the throttle brake or help you with the steering wheel (L1), even both of them help you (L2). But in case of an accident, I am not responsible.

  • L3 – I will help you drive it and you deal  in an emergency. If I can't handle it, I will tell you to take over immediately, so you can call and write the document, but don't leave the driver's seat.
  • L4 – I will help you drive it, and I will help you with any situation. If you can't handle it, at least it will help you stop the road, and save you a small life, you will take over. So you can sleep, drive the car, play games, you can leave the driver's seat.

  • L5 – I will help you drive, nothing to do with you. It’s hard to say that your driving level is just like amateur 0 and AlphaGo playing chess, letting AI drive is harmful to public safety. Do you have to drive? Sorry, I have already unloaded the steering wheel and throttle. There is no driver seat. You can't drive it if you want to drive. In the next 25 years, when autonomous driving progresses from the L1 phase to the L5 phase, driving is like riding a horse, more like an entertainment than a skill. Undoubtedly, this will be the biggest revolution in the history of the automotive industry in the past 100 years!

 

This revolution is mainly brought about by AI (intelligence), but it relies heavily on interconnection!

 

On the one hand, the sensing system information such as radar and camera is connected to the traditional driving system. The evolution of this car information architecture can be said to be data fusion, and it can also be called "local interconnection" inside the car.

 

 

On the other hand, one of the reasons for the delay in the L3 and L4 phases is that the amount of information and computing power inside the car alone may not be enough. It is likely to be combined with the data and computing power of the cloud. This is called V2V (vehicle-vehicle interconnection), V2R (vehicle-road interconnection), V2I (vehicle-infrastructure interconnection), relying on high reliability, low latency. High-speed 5G network interconnection (or stronger network) can be achieved.

 

 

The realization of the L5 stage automatic driving can not only save the driving time, but also eliminate the driver's career.

 

At that time, in addition to hobbies, everyone no longer had the need to buy a car. AI cars form a network of interconnected traffic and become the capillary of the city, which not only meets the travel needs of people, but also greatly improves the logistics efficiency of goods.
